i dont think you can design a good desktop app
there are a lot of cross-platform desktop apps floating around now which is great. it means people have a choice of which OS to use (theoretically anyway). i mean mac, windows or linux, not cross-platform as in adobe air. i recently just realized something: if you have an offering of a multi-os desktop app and your screenshots are NOT for the mac, i will not use it. i have nothing against windows or linux at all. they both have their uses. it is my firm belief that if your app development team is windows or gnome/kde centric, they are not capable of designing a good desktop app. it may be okay, but not great. i guess my definition of *-centric is which screenshots you put on your front page ;). nowadays, i’m trying to cut mediocrity out of my life, so… sorry guys.
